With a general emphasis on international flavours and fusions, street food packs a punch of flavour and value in a vessel that is easy to hold while walking through narrow London streets. As neighbours of the Camden Market, our team decided to do some primary research to get a better feel for the benefits and specialities of street food and all that it offers.

ZOE: TRUE ROMANCE - NEW YORK PIZZA

True Romance offers pizza by the slice, which always takes me straight back to my New York roots. There’s nothing like walking through the Market with sauce dripping down your arm to give you the ultimate summer feeling, (and the casual reminder to never wear white!). Their menu offers a mix of classic flavours alongside a couple of wild cards. They also have frozen cocktails and a good selection of beers to choose from. I highly recommend stopping in for a slice (or two), especially on a weekend, where you can delve into their bottomless brunch and pizza offering! Honestly, can it get any better?!

LILY: THREE UNCLES - CANTONESE ROAST MEATS

With a few locations around London, many have heard of Three Uncles and their incredible ability to serve up amazing roasted Cantonese meats! As their website boasts, the smell wafting down the market will catch your attention even before you see the iconic neon lights of their sign! They specialise in Siu Mei, or spit roasted meats, ranging from flavourful duck, to crispy pork, to succulent beef brisket. Even with a fairly simple menu, I can never confidently decide which meat is my favourite.

GEORGIA: CAMDEN COFFEE ROASTERY - COFFEE AND PASTRY

A bit off the beaten path of Camden Market, this Hawley Wharf stall is the star of the Camden Market coffee scene. A perfect stop for your caffeine fix between courses, Camden Coffee Roastery offers freshly roasted coffee, artisan pastries, and brunch all day! These curators really know their coffee, sourcing single origin and house blends from all around the world, and even roasting coffee in house, during store hours! As a self-proclaimed coffee and pastry purveyor, I usually judge a cafe’s quality on their cappuccino and whatever pastry looks the most moreish that day! Today I went with my usual, an almond-milk cappuccino and a slice of their pumpkin and coconut cake. Verdict: Heavenly!

JOHNNY: BILL OR BEAK - BURGERS

Bill or Beak smash a ridiculous amount of goodness into one burger. A burger so juicy and vibrant it makes other street offerings look all a bit ‘meh!’ Keeping the menu simple, making every element and ingredient delicious, these burgers will blow you away. My eyes were immediately drawn to the Honey butter fried chicken! Paired with their loaded fries drowning in cheese and crispy onions, and a cheeky half pint or two of Camden Hells, I’m convinced there's nothing better! This stall is sure to give your friends all the food envy.

CHRISTABELL: EKACHAI - SOUTH ASIAN CUISINE

It’s all about the wok action at this Southeast Asian street food stall! Having grown up in Singapore, I love getting a taste of home wherever I can and was quick to go for one of my favourites - char kway teow. This brought me back to the Singaporean hawker centres. Thick flat rice noodles wok-fried to perfection with prawns, bean sprouts, and plenty of soy and spice.

BEX: TSUJIRI - MATCHA DESSERT AND TEA HOUSE

Whether you are new to the matcha game, or a true connoisseur like me, Tsujiri has all you could ever dream of when it comes to ceremonial grade matcha treats. From drinks made of matcha and yuzu, to traditional Japanese treats like mochi and mousse cake, Tsujiri covers all of the instagram worthy treats your heart desires. I got the Kanten Sundae, which came with chewy mochi right on top of delicious soft-serve matcha!

DANI: STREAT - LATIN AMERICAN AREPAS

I got a pocketful of sunshine, and I’m not talking about Natasha Bedingfield! Traditional Venezuelan arepas are soft cornbread pockets filled with cheese, beans, avocado, and super flavourful meats! Not only are these delights handheld, making them perfect for walking the market, they really do pack a true flavour punch in such a small package. Penny the Boss, DL’s furriest of friends, loved the chicken empanada that I had leftover, making sure to lick the plate clean when she was finished.

EMILY: CACTUS NOODLE BAR - HAND PULLED NOODLES

Cactus noodle bar is THE place for hand pulled noodles in Camden Market. Not only do they make handmade, in-house noodles in flavourful Sichuan broth, they also serve up some impressive sides like pork dumplings and house-fried chicken! This traditional place always makes me feel back at home in China, where I spent some of the best years of my life, especially in terms of eating! I always loved watching the incredibly talented chefs hand-pulling the noodles right there in front of you!

VIC: MEATHEAD - BIRRIA TACOS

The name says it all, this place is all about the meat! It sells Birria tacos for £3.50 each with varieties like chipotle chicken, lamb chili con carne, and birria beef. What is a Birria taco, you might ask? Birria tacos are a handheld spin on traditional birria, which is a braised meat stew hailing from Jalisco, Mexico. Served with Oaxaca cheese and consomé, the broth of the stew itself, these tacos might be messy, but they are a must at Camden Market!
