In September 2025, Dinner Ladies will proudly take the helm of St Albans Cathedral’s event catering and the beloved Abbot’s Kitchen Café, ushering in a new era of sustainable, seasonal, and bold food experiences at one of the UK’s most iconic heritage sites.

St Albans Cathedral is more than a place of worship; it is a living, breathing community hub steeped in over 1,700 years of history. Our mission is to honour this legacy while infusing it with modern, conscious hospitality that connects visitors, congregants, and the wider community through exceptional food.

At Abbot’s Kitchen Café, we will set out to create a welcoming, inclusive space for reflection, conversation, and nourishment, where locally sourced, seasonal ingredients shine, and visitors can experience the delight of eating well in the calm embrace of the Cathedral grounds.

What we plan to do

Abbot’s Kitchen Café

Launch a new café menu featuring locally sourced produce, seasonal ingredients and family-friendly options.

Train café staff in Dinner Ladies’ signature warm, welcoming service to ensure every visitor feels at home.

Create seasonal specials and supper club feasts that reflect the rhythms of the liturgical calendar and local landscape.

Dinner Ladies will take over event catering across the Cathedral event calendar including concerts, lectures, and community gatherings within the historic spaces.

Craft bespoke seasonal menus that honour both the Cathedral’s traditions and Dinner Ladies’ modern and bold approach to food.

Design seamless event experiences for visitors, families, corporate partners, and community organisers, focusing on sustainable, beautiful events at scale.
